Fred C. Schmitt

FSchmittFred C. Schmitt shot his first 100 straight  in 1958 competing in the Great Western Open in Chicago Illinois.  Fred enjoys skeet because it takes a lot of concentration, practice and focus.  His lifetime target shooting is the second highest in history.  He has shot more than 375,000 registered targets.  The total is still rising by about 10,000 targets a year.

Fred has worked  tirelessly to help skeet.  He was president of the Peoria, Illinois Gun Club in 1964.  With his leadership, the club built 10 skeet and 10 trap fields that year.  In 1965 he was president of the Illinois Skeet Shooting Association.  From 1962  through 1969 he was on the Illinois Skeet Team.  Fred moved to Arizona in 1970.  Arizona shooters elected him State Director to the National Skeet Shooting Association in 1973, and he served until 1990.  During this period, he was involved with the organization and development of the Zone 7  Skeet Association, the first Zone organization in the history of the NSSA.
