Phil H. Giger

PGIGERPhil H. Giger started his clay target shooting career in 1950 when he joined his first gun club and became one of the leading contenders for skeet shooting championships throughout the western states.  Phil shot over 150,000  registered targets.

Phil attended skeet shoots in most all Zone 7 States, and made many trips outside Zone 7.  He attended 10 world shoots, this was his annual opportunity to have Remington clean his 1100’s.  He compiled an impressive list of wins with hundreds of trophies garnered from Zone 7 skeet shooting activities.

Phil won over 100  High Overall championships including the Pacific Northwest Championship, the Eddie Bauer, Washington and Oregon State Championships and many others in Zone 7 States.  His list of individual championships  is  countless.  Phil shot the first few Zone 7 championships and was one of the first Zone 7 Directors.  He was named to the Zone 7 All-Star Team in 1975 and 1976.

Phil was elected a Washington State NSSA Director in 1965.  In 1967 Phil established the Washington State skeet shooting organization, helped to write its first bylaws and served two terms as its president.  He  was a  life member  of NSSA and served  many  years  on  the board of directors of the Spokane Gun Club.  He also served the NSSA as a member of the finance and rules committee.

Phil had two shooting trademarks; shooting high two before the bird  had a chance to barely clear the house; and an automatic 100 straight with the 12 Gauge Sunday morning.
